On May 26, 2009, the Atlantic Council of Canada hosted the first NATO Economy Forum in Toronto. As an organization seeking to promote a greater understanding and involvement in NATO efforts to achieve peace and security, this forum puts into practice the intent of Article 2 of the Washington Treaty. This article establishes a clear connection between strong economic development and greater peace and stability.
It is the ACC’s pleasure to have hosted the event which gave representatives from the Canadian business community the opportunity to connect with representatives from Southeastern Europe’s emerging economies. It is our belief that this event offers the ideal networking opportunity required to begin establishing these important trade and investment opportunities.
